August 28, 2018
BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University men’s soccer head coach Greg Brisbon has announced the addition of Louis Genty, a defender from the National Polytechnic Institute of Chemical and Industrial Engineering and Technologies (INP-ENSIACET) in France, as a member of the incoming class for the upcoming 2018 season.
Genty, from Toulouse, France, has played three years of soccer at INP-ENSIACET and will be a senior for the Vikings during the 2018 season. He joins a previously-announced incoming class of eight freshmen and two transfers for the upcoming season.
Over the past three years for INP-ENSIACET, Genty totaled 20 goals and 8 assists while starting 25 of 26 games. He helped lead the team to a university technology title in France during 2017. Genty also earned a Student of the Year honor during 2017 after organizing a sport union association at the technology university.
During his club career, Genty played for amateur club team US Castanet. Castanet-Tolasan is the club’s first team and competes in National 3, the fifth division of the French league system. He played for the first team as well as B and C teams of the club during 2017-18.
Genty appeared in the most recent exhibition game for the Vikings and recorded an assist in a 5-0 win against Puget Sound. His intended major at WWU is energy policy and management.
WWU begins the regular season schedule this week at Sonoma State and at Chico State. The Vikings battle Sonoma State on Thursday (Aug. 30, 5 pm) before facing Chico State on Saturday (Sept. 1, 7 pm).
WWU’s home opener is Sept. 11 vs. Hawai'i-Hilo at Harrington Field (7 pm).
