Bellingham Blazers at Tahoe for 2nd round of WSHL Playoffs

The Bellingham Blazers face a tough challenge on the road as the Northwest Division semifinal round of the Western States Hockey League playoffs get underway tonight. Bellingham will battle the Lake Tahoe Iceman in a best-of-three series at the South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena.

A look at the numbers between the two squads are a bit deceiving. Bellingham, the 3 seed, tied the 2nd-seeded Iceman with a regular season mark of 28-20-3. Head-to-head Tahoe was dominant, winning all six contests.

The Blazers are riding some momentum winning their opening round playoff series last weekend vs. Southern Oregon in 2 games.

After the playoff victory over the Spartans, Blazers head coach Mark Collins told The Doug Lange Network it was only going to get tougher moving forward.

"As hard as Southern Oregon works for 60 minutes,  I think Tahoe works harder for 60 minutes," said Collins. "If we do things the right way we'll be successful and I think we just have to outwork them."

Game 1 gets underway tonight at 7:O0pm. Game 2 is Saturday at 7:00pm and game 3 is scheduled for a 2:30pm puck drop if necessary.
