WWU Athletics Hosts Viking Madness Tonight

October 26, 2018 

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Western Washington University men’s and women’s basketball teams will host Viking Madness on Friday night starting at 7 pm, a free event in Carver Gym for WWU students, faculty and staff and community members to kick off the 2018-19 basketball seasons.

 

Members of both teams will be on hand to sign autographs on free posters provided by Louis Auto Glass, with several additional activities planned to welcome another hoops season to Carver Gym. 

 

Kids and WWU students are invited to participate in the Trick-or-Treat pre-Madness from 7-8 pm in the lobby of Carver Gym, with Woods Coffee, WECU, Jimmy John’s, Louis Auto Glass, Haggen, the WWU Bookstore and KIND Bars participating in the event offering free giveaways.

 

WWU students can also purchase a Viking Territory Pass for the upcoming basketball season and enter a raffle drawing for an Apple Watch and other great prizes.

 

The main event start at 8 pm on WECU Court, with WWU holding its version of Midnight Madness introducing all players on the men’s and women’s basketball teams. The WWU Cheer team, the Viking Band and the WWU Hip-Hop Dance Team will provide entertainment, while the player participate in intrasquad scrimmage, a 3-point shooting contest and a slam dunk contest.

 

There will also be a Halloween costume contest, so fans are encouraged to dress up for a chance to win a special prize.

 

Admission to the event is free, with free parking available in the C and 12A lots on South Campus. A shuttle will provide transportation to Carver Gym from the 12A lot near Harrington Field.
