Home Opener Tonight for WWU Men's Soccer 

September 11, 2018 

The No. 24 nationally-ranked WWU men’s soccer team (3-1-0) will play their home opener tonight at Harrington Field. The Vikings host Hawaii Hilo at 7:00pm. 

Western is coming off a 2-1 win at Point Loma last Thursday before falling 2-0 at Azusa Pacific last Saturday. Georg Cholewa scored a goal in each half (15th, 79th minutes) at Point Loma with both goals on free kicks as WWU picked up its the third straight win to begin the season. Azusa Pacific scored in the 19th and 26th minutes for a 2-0 win over the Vikings last Saturday.

 

 

Cholewa was named the GNAC Offensive Player of the Week for the period of Sept. 3-9 after recording a brace in the win at Point Loma. The sophomore has totaled 3 goals and 2 assists through four games on the season for a team-best 8 points and ranks among conference leaders in points (tied for 2nd), goals (tied for 1st) and assists (3rd).  

WWU hosts Hawaii Pacific Saturday to close out their non-conference schedule with GNAC play beginning next week.
