June 21, 2018

Former WWU men's soccer player Oscar Jimenez assisted on the first goal for Louisville City FC Wednesday night in a 2-1 victory over Nashville to advance to the quarterfinal round of the U.S. Open Cup.

LouCity will face Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire at Toyota Park on Wednesday, July 18, with a time yet to be confirmed.

Jimenez, a Skagit County native and product of Mount Vernon High School, played for the Vikings from 2008-2011 where he notched 22 career assists to tie for the all-time program record. Prior to arriving at WWU he was a three-time Skagit Valley Herald Player of the Year and with the Vikings was an All-West Region and All-GNAC player.

He has started all 12 games for LouCity, which plays in the Eastern Conference of the United Soccer League (USL). He has scored one goal and recorded a pair of assists this season.

Jimenez signed with LouCity in February 2017 and helped the team to win its first USL Cup last November. LouCity was the Eastern Conference Regular Season Champion, Eastern Conference Playoff Champion and USL Champion in 2017.
