Prep Football: 3 Local Teams in Final AP Poll

October 31, 2018 

Three Whatcom County prep squads are in the final Associated Press football poll. The rankings were released Wednesday as teams prep for district playoff action in Week 10. 

Lynden finishes as the highest ranked local team. The Lions (8-0) remained at No. 2 in the 2A classification after enjoying a bye week. Lynden, who trails only No. 1 Hopkinson, will open the playoffs Friday versus Blaine (5-4) at Civic Stadium. 

Lynden Christian and Meridian are in the final top-10 in the 1A ranks. The Lyncs (7-2) beat the Trojans (6-3) 21-12 last week. The victory moved Lynden Christian up from the "receiving votes" category to finish at No. 7. Meridian slipped 3 spots to No. 8. 

The Lyncs are on the road Friday at King's at 7:00pm while the Trojans will host South Whidbey at Civic Stadium at 4:00pm. 

Following a 19-16 loss to Nooksack Valley in week 9, Mount Baker (6-4) fell out out of the top-10 from No. 10. The Mountaineers will play Cedar Park Christian Saturday at Juanita High School at 2:00pm 

Squalicum fell out of the 3A top-10 with a 30-27 loss to Snohomish last week . The Storm (7-2) went from No. 8 to the "receiving votes" category. Squalicum will play Central Kitsap Friday at Civic beginning at 7:00pm. You can hear that game on The Doug Lange Network beginning at 6:45pm.  

The only other ranked Northwest Conference team is Archbishop Murphy (4-2) who remained at No. 9 after a bye week.  The Wildcats will play host to Sehome (6-3) Friday at 7:00pm. You can hear that game on The Doug Lange Network beginning at 6:45pm.
