Lynden Still Chasing Baseball State Berth

May 11, 2018

The Lynden baseball team has one final shot at securing a spot in the regional round of 2A State. The Lions will play Liberty High School at Volunteer Field in Anacortes Saturday in a loser-out, winner-to-state contest.

The Lions (15-7) could have punched their ticket to state with a win Tuesday in the district playoff semifinals, but they fell to Burlington 4-3 in extra innings.

Liberty already survived a loser-out playoff game to get to Saturday's match-up with the Lions. The Patriots eliminated Archbishop Murphy with a 9-3 win on Tuesday.

"Liberty is a good baseball team, we lost to them in the district championship last year 1-nothing," said Lynden coach Cory White. "That was one of those games we could've turned around and played them a second game that same day. We felt like we were right there with them."

Saturday's game is scheduled for an 11am first pitch. You can hear the game right here on The Doug Lange Network. Our coverage begins at 10:45am.
