All NWC: Bajema named MVP, Owens Top Coach

Lynden Christian forward Cole Bajema has been named the Most Valuable Player of the Northwest Conference. Ferndale's Jason Owens is the Varsity Coach of the Year. The Boys All Northwest Conference Teams were announced Monday. 

Bajema is joined by Lynden's Christian Zamora as the only juniors on the first team, Both helped lead their squads to state championships in the Yakima SunDome March 3rd.

Other Whatcom County players on the first team include Ferndale's James Hinson, Casey Bauman of Nooksack Valley and Squalicum's Kendall Engelhart. Skagit County was represented by players on the first team: Tristian Lowry and Jacob South of Anacortes and Davis Mihelich of Sedro-Woolley.

Owens lead the Golden Eagles to an 11-and-10 overall record, going 9-and-4 in conference play. Ferndale finished 5th in the NWC and advanced to the 3A district playoffs.  Hear what Coach Owens had to say about winning the award.
