WWU Women Host Saint Martin's Tonight

February 14, 2019

The Western Washington University women’s basketball team returns to the hardwood tonight. The Vikings host Saint Martin's at Carver Gym in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference match-up.

WWU is 12-10 overall and in 5th place in the GNAC standings with a 7-7 conference record. The Saints come into tonight's game with a 5-17 overall record, currently in 10th place in the conference with a 3-11 mark.

Both teams are looking for a win after stumbling as of late.

The Vikings lost their last game in the final minute February 9th, falling to Concordia 60-57. They have dropped 5 of their last 8 games. Saint Martin's is looking to break a three-game losing streak.

It's the second meeting of the year between the Vikings and Saints. WWU beat Saint Martin’s 75-67 on January 19th on the road in Lacey. Bobbi Westendorf lead the way with a near double-double of 9 points and 12 rebounds. Anna Schwecke also had 17 points on 7-for-8 shooting.

The numbers favor Western. WWU leads the all-time series 71-10, with a current 23-game winning streak dating back to Feb. 21, 2008. Going back to 1998 the Vikings are 42-1 vs. the Saints.

Tip-off on WECU Court at Carver Gym is scheduled for 7:00pm.
