Bellingham Bells Fall to Victoria in Extra Innings

July 3, 2018

The Bellingham Bells opened up a 6-game homestead Tuesday with a tough extra-innings loss to Victoria. The HarbourCats topped the Bells 4-3 in 11 innings at Joe Martin Field.

Dustin Demeter did all the offensive damage for the HarbourCats. Trailing 2-nothing, the shortstop tied the game in the top of the 9th with a 2-run single and followed it up with a base knock for 2 more RBI's in the 11th.

Bellingham pushed across 1 run in the bottom of the 9th, but could get no closer.

Samuel Brunning (1-1; 7.36 ERA) pitched 2 scoreless innings for Victoria to pick up the win. Nathan Walker closed out the 11th, notching his first save of the season.

Bellingham righty Justin Armbruester (1-1; 1.17 ERA) suffered his first defeat of the year.

Bellingham (18-7) and Victoria (12-13) square off again tonight. Taylor Davis is scheduled to start for the Bells versus Owen Sharts for the HarbourCats. First pitch is at 6:35pm.
