Big Thursday for WWU Soccer & Volleyball

October 18, 2018

It will be a busy Thursday for the Western Washington University soccer and volleyball teams. All three squads will be in action with the men's and women's soccer squads playing a doubleheader at home while the volleyball team battles in Alaska.

The WWU men's soccer team (6-6-1, 2-4-1 GNAC) returns to Harrington Field to begin a four-game homestand, starting with hosting Saint Martin's at 4 pm. WWU had its three-game unbeaten streak snapped last week, dropping road contests at Seattle Pacific and No. 1 Simon Fraser.

The No. 18 Viking Women's soccer squad (11-2-1, 6-1-1 GNAC) will follow, hosting No. 6 Concordia  at 7 pm. The Vikings have a current 8-game unbeaten streak (7-0-1), while Concordia has yet to suffer a loss this season at 10-0-2 overall and 7-0-1 in conference play.

WWU is 3rd in the first set of women's Division 2 West Region rankings released on Wednesday.

WWU volleyball will wrap up the night in the 49th state. The No. 4-ranked Vikings take a 17-match winning streak to Alaska to face second-place Alaska Anchorage at 7pm AKT (8pm Pacific). Coming off a pair of 3-0 sweeps at home last week vs. Central Washington and Northwest Nazarene, WWU is 17-3 overall and in first place in the GNAC with a perfect 12-0 record.
