Sehome Softball 1 Win Away From Title Game 

May 26, 2018 

After a blistering start Friday, the Sehome fast pitch softball team will look to stay hot today to advance to the 2A State championship game. Standing in their way in the semifinals is Ellensburg, the top ranked team in the state.

The Mariners and Bulldogs will meet in the semis at 10am at Carlon Park in Selah. The winner moves on to the 2A title game versus either W.F. West or Woodland at 2:00pm.

 

Sehome (22-2) racked up two shutout, 5-inning victories on the opening day of the state tournament. The Mariners blanked Fife 12-0 in the round of 16 and North Kitsap 12-0 in the quarterfinals. 

Ellensburg (22-2) had a much tougher time advancing. The Bulldogs outlasted Lynden 5-3 in their state opener and edged Ridgefield 1-0 in the quarterfinals. 

Both teams bring plenty of confidence into the match-up, Sehome is riding a 15-game win streak. Ellensburg has won 11 of their last 12 outings.

In other action on Saturday, Mount Baker will look to stay alive in the 1A state tournament in Richland. The Mountaineers went 2-and-1 on Friday. An extra innings, 6-to-3 quarterfinal loss to Chewelah took them out of the running for a state championship. 

Mount Baker needs three straight victories today to claim third place. the Mountaineers will begin their quest today versus Warden in a loser out game at 11:00am.
