Blazers season ends with playoff loss to Tahoe

The Lake Tahoe Icemen used a 4-goal 3rd period to knock the Bellingham Blazers out of the Western State Hockey League playoffs Saturday. Tahoe won the best-of-three Northwest Division semifinal series with the 9-6 game 2 victory at the South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena. 

Lake Tahoe outshot Bellingham 48-to-37. Paul Frys and Justin Poirier led the way for the Icemen with 2 goals each. 

The Blazers got off to a slow start, trailing 2-o after the first 20 minutes. Bellingham tallied 5 goals in the 2nd to tie things up heading into the decisive third period. 

Ruslan Novruzov led Bellingham with 2 goals and an assist in the season ending loss. 

Bellingham finishes the year with a regular season record of 51-28-20 for 59 points. They went 2-and-2 in the playoffs, beating Southern Oregon in the Northwest Division quarterfinals.
