McClain Leads Bells to Victory in Regular Season Finale

August 5, 2018 

The Bellingham Bells wrapped up the 2018 West Coast League regular season with a victory. The Bells Will now turn their attention to the playoffs beginning on Friday after downing the Kelowna Falcons 4-to-2 Sunday at Joe Martin Field. 

Bellingham second-baseman Matt McClain lead the way going 2-for-4 with a triple, 2 RBI's and 1 run scored. The UCLA freshman upped his batting average to .291 in 23 games for the Bells.  

Marcos Cuenca pitched 3 scoreless innings to get the get the victory. The righty out of Western Oklahoma State College gave up just 1 hit, striking out 2 and walking just 1 batter. Peter Kemble pitched the final two innings to record his second save of the season. 

Bellingham wraps up the regular season with a record of 35-and-19. The victory gives the Bells a series and season split with Kelowna (26-25). 

Bellingham’s moves on to the playoffs getting underway on the road Friday August 10th. Their first-round opponent is still to be announced.  The next home playoff game will be on Saturday, August 11th at Joe Martin Field.
