Late Rally Propels Bells Past Pickles

June 17, 2018 

The Bellingham Bells used some inning heroics to beat Portland Saturday night. A two-run ally in the bottom of the 9th pushed the Bells past the Pickles 3-2. 

Pinch hitter Matt James drove in the game winner with an RBI single with two outs in the 9th. Guthrie Morrison tied the game earlier in the inning with an RBI double. 

Morrison had a big night for Bellingham going 3-for-3 with 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored. The junior from Edmonds Community College hit his first home run of the season leading off the bottom of the 3rd. 

Davis Baillie (1-0; 0.60 ERA) got the win for Bellingham.  Brad Bonnefant (0-1; 3.37) picked up the loss for Portland. 

The Bells (9-5) will go for the series sweep over Portland (9-4) today. Will Smith (1-0; 1.63 ERA) is scheduled to start for Bellingham versus Michael Newsroom (1-2; 0.83 ERA). first pitch at Joe Martin Field is at 3:05pm .
