2A Softball: Sehome Wins District Championship

May 18, 2019

Sehome softball is heading to the 2A state tournament as the top seed out of District 1/2. The Mariners won the district championship with a 2-0 victory over Lakewood Friday at Janicki Fields in Sedro-Woolley.

It was the 9th win in the last 10 games for 5th seeded Sehome, who lost to No. 2 Lakewood 3-0 in their only other match-up during the regular season.

The Northwest Conference will be sending another squad to the state tourney. Lynden won two loser out games Friday to advance as the third and final squad out of the district.

The 3rd seeded Lions knocked off No. 1 Anacortes 6-2 in their first game and followed that up with a 7-to-4 win over 6 seed Mountlake Terrace.

2A State softball is May 24th and 25th at Carlon Park in Selah.

There's more softball action in solving Whatcom county teams at Janicki Fields today. The 1A district tournament wraps up with 1 Northwest Conference team already assured of a state berth and two others chasing after the one remaining spot.

Lynden Christian is in. The Lyncs will play Coupeville for the district crown at 2:00pm. Mount Baker and Nooksack Valley must survive two loser out contests to claim third place and a trip to state.

The Mountaineers and Pioneers play each other at 12:00pm. The winner will play either Cedar Park Christian or Granite Falls at 2:00pm.

1A state softball is May 24th and 25th at Columbia Playfield in Richland.
