Prep Baseball Saturday: Lynden Only Local Winner

Lynden 9 Cedarcrest 0 

Lynden broke out the bats in a 9-0 shutout victory over Cedarcrest at home. The Lions racked up 12 hits in all, led by the 3-for-3 performance by Brendan Kleindel. The senior added a base on balls and scored 3 runs. James Marsh went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, 1 run scored and 3 RBI's. 

Starter Preston King (2 innings), Tanner Hope (3 innings), Cade Slayton (1 inning) and Devin Holmstrom (1 inning) combined to give up just 7 Cedarcrest hits in the win. Lynden (4-1) returns to action on Tuesday with a home game versus Blaine beginning at 4:00pm. 

Sedro-Woolley 5 Ferndale 1 

Fueled by a 4-run, 4th inning Sedro-Wooley downed Ferndale 5-1 in a Northwest Conference road game. The Golden Eagles were held to just 4 hits on the the day with Geirean Hatchett going 2-for-3 and Ryan Whipkey driving in the lone run on a first inning double. 

Ferndale slips to 4-and-2 on the year. The Golden Eagles are next in action Tuesday when they play host to Squalicum with a 4:00pm scheduled first pitch. 

Cedar Park Christian 14 Lynden Christian 4 

A 9-run 5th inning propelled Cedar Park Christian to a 14-to-4 victory at home over Lynden Christian. The Lyncs were held to just 3 hits and committed 6 errors as their record falls to 4-and-4.

 

Cole Moorlag and Shale Wittern provided the offense for L.C. with 2 RBI's each. The Lyncs return to NWC play Tuesday, taking on Sedro-Woolley on the road at 4:00pm. 

South Whidbey 12 Bellingham 9 

A late Bellingham rally came up short in a 12-9 loss at South Whidbey. Led by Nathan Pursley's 3-RBI double, the Red Raiders pushed 6 runs across in the top of the 7th to draw close. With 2 on and the tying run at the plate, South Whidbey got the final out on a pop-up to the shortstop. 

Pursley finished the game with 4 RBI's, while Kyle Payne had 2 RBI's with 2 runs scored.  Bellingham (1-6) plays host to Lakewood Tuesday with a 4:00pm first pitch at Joe Martin Field. 

Archbishop Murphy 9 Squalicum 1 

Squalicum (2-6) dropped their 2nd straight game, falling 9-1 to Archbishop Murphy in a non-conference match-up at Joe Martin Field. The Storm are back on the field Tuesday with a NWC counter at Ferndale. The first pitch is scheduled for 4:00pm.
