AP Football Poll: Undefeated Lynden Slips

October 3, 2018

Despite an undefeated record, the Lynden Lions slipped 1 spot in the week seven Associated Press prep football poll. Lynden, Lynden Christian and Mount Baker are the three Whatcom County teams in the Top-10 rankings released Wednesday.

Lynden (6-0) fell from No. 3 into a tie with Liberty at No. 4. The Lions struggled before getting a come-from-behind 17-14 victory over Burlington last Friday. Lynden, Looking up at Hockinson (1), Tumwater (2) and Steilacom (3), hits the road to take on Sedro-Woolley Friday.

After suffering their first loss of the year, Lynden Christian (5-1) dropped from No. 4 to No. 6 in the 1A classification. The Lyncs fell 35-20 to Meridian (4-2).  The Trojans remain listed outside of the top-10 in the "receiving votes" section of the rankings.  Meridian hosts Nooksack Valley Friday on The Doug Lange Network with coverage beginning at 6:45pm. LC hosts Mount Baker in week 7.

The Mountaineers (4-2) stayed at No. 8 in the 1A. The Mountaineers beat Nooksack Valley 55-21 last Friday.

The only other ranked team in the Northwest Conference is Archbishop Murphy. The Wildcats (2-2) jumped 1 spot to No. 9 in the 2A after beating Lakewood last week. Oak Harbor (5-1) remains as the lone Wesco 3A North team in the rankings at No. 8.
