3 City Squads Open State Soccer Today

May 16, 2018

The Bellingham schools dominated prep soccer in 2018. Today all 3 teams hit the pitch in their chase for a state championship. Sehome & Bellingham will open the round of 16 at home while Squalicum hits the road.

Sehome and Bellingham will host matches in a doubleheader at Civic Stadium. The Mariners (14-4-1) square off with R.A. Long (12-7-1) at 5:00pm. The Red Raiders (17-0-1) face Fife (12-7-1) at 7:00pm. You can hear both games online with The Doug Lange Network right here beginning at 4:45pm.

In the 3A ranks, Squalicum (18-2-0) travels to Interbay Stadium in Seattle to play Garfield (13-1-4) at 7:00pm.

How dominant have the Red Raiders, Mariners and Storm been this season? They have a combined record 49-6-2, with all but one of the blemishes courtesy of each other.

Expect the ball to find the back of the net today. Bellingham, Sehome and Squalicum have outscored their opponents 230-to-39 this season.

All three matches are loser-out contests, with the winners moving on to quarterfinal play later in the week. Both tournaments wrap-up with championship games on May 26th. The 3A will be played at Sparks Stadium in Puyallup. The 2A title game is at Sunset Chev Stadium in Sumner.
