Bells Shutout Sweets in Home Opener

June 5, 2018 

The Bellingham Bells got their West Coast League home schedule off on the right foot with a shutout victory over Walla Walla Monday. Will Smith pitched the Bells past the Sweets 5-0 in the home opener in front of 2,317 fans at Joe Martin Field. 

Smith went 6 innings, allowing just 3 hits to pick up his first victory on the year. He recorded 6 strikeouts and walked  just 1 batter before turning it over to three relievers who wrapped it up with three scoreless innings of work. 

Jordan Stoner was the hitting star of the night. The Bellingham outfielder went 3-for-4 with a home run, with 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored. Stoner was honored as a WCL player of the Week Monday. 

The Bells (2-1) and Sweets (1-3) are back in action tonight with a 6:35pm first pitch.  Wesley Moore is the scheduled starter for Bellingham.
