State Golf: Lynden's Jordan Medcalf Wins 2A Championship

May 22, 2019 

Lynden's Jordan Medcalf is the boys golf 2A state champion. The freshman shot a second round 74 Wednesday at the Liberty Lake Golf Course in Spokane to earn the title by two strokes.

 

Medcalf started the day tied for first with Paul Jacobsen of Sequim after shooting a 73 on Tuesday. He edged Burlington's Conrad Brown with a two total of 147 to 149, despite Brown posting the lowest score on Wednesday with a 72. 

Ridgefield won the 2A boys team title. Northwest Conference squads Burlington and Sehome finished in the top-10. The Tigers finished 4th with Sehome coming in 8th.

In 2A girls play, Bellingham had two players finish in the top-10. Jada French finished 3rd with a two-day total of 156, six strokes behind champion Kathryn Crimp of Ellensburg. Red Raiders senior Sophia Schmidt finished 6th after finishing with a 158 over two days at the Meadowwood Golf Course in Spokane. 

Samamish won the 2A girls team title with Bellingham coming in second.

Mount Baker's Clara Bergman was the highest local finisher in the girls 2A/2B/1A classification at the Tumwater Valley Golf Course. The senior finished 4th after shooting a 75 on Wednesday to finish  9 strokes behind the winner Emerson Walker of Charles Wright Academy. 

In the 1A boys tournament at the Olympia Country and Golf Club, Carson Linville finished in the 3-way tie for 7th. He shot back to back 75's to finish 8 strokes back of the champion Gyan Bains on Charles Wright Academy. 

The Lynden Christian boys finished 8th overall in the team standings.
