State Soccer: Sehome out, Bellingham plays tonight

May 19, 2018

The Sehome boys soccer season came to an end Friday night in Tacoma. Franklin Pierce edged the Mariners 2-1 with a shootout victory in the 2A state quarterfinals.

According to the News Tribune of Tacoma, the Cardinals (19-0-2) were perfect in the shootout, outscoring Sehome, 4-2. Franklin Pierce moves on to the semifinals against either Archbishop Murphy or Columbia River at Sunset Chev Stadium in Sumner on May 25th.

Sehome ends the year with a record of 15-5-1.

The Bellingham soccer squad will hit the pitch tonight when they host Highline in quarterfinal play. According to Bellingham high School the match start time has been updated to 5:00pm.

The Red Raiders (18-0-1) are coming off a 4-0 victory over Fife Wednesday in the opening round of state. Bellingham's lone blemish on their record this season dates all the way back to March 11th with a 1-1 draw with Sehome.

Highline (15-3-1) comes into tonight's match off of a 3-1 opening round victory over Woodland on Tuesday.

The winner will advance to the semifinals next weekend against the today's Sequim/Burlington winner.
