2017-2018 Record: 13-1; 6-0 in League

The Meridian Trojans came within a touchdown of winning the 1A state championship last season in the Tacoma Dome.  A Royal TD with 2:32 left to play gave the Knights a 33-27 victory over the Trojans and their third straight title. Can Meridian make it back to the Dome this season? Sure, but they'll have to do it without the 1A state player of the year in quarterback Simon Burkett.

Now the Trojans have to move past the narrow miss at a state championship and look to improve on a 13-and-1 season. Meridian Head Coach Bob Ames says he doesn't concern himself with any carryover.

There plenty of talent returning for the Trojans. All-State Linebacker Adam Kruzich is a leader on defense while opponents will have to pick their poison on either side of the ball with OLB/RB Dylan Hickok. 

​

Dawson Logan will have the tall task of stepping in as the new starting QB. The senior says he learned how to be an overall leader from Burkett and his  experience at wide receiver will help in taking over as signal caller.

The Trojans face a tough schedule to open up the year. It starts with a 2017 2A playoff squad in Sedro-Woolley at home week 1. Week 2 brings a road trip to the Peshastin-Dryden Sports Complex week 2 to battle perennial 1A powerhouse Colville. 

​

The final six weeks of the regular season brings on the slugfest with the Lynden Christian, Nooksack Valley & Mt. Baker two times each. It's not an easy stretch run, but Ames gave credit to the other NWC 1A squads last year in preparing Meridian for a long playoff run.
