Vikings Add Arlington High Product Cody Oakes to Program for 2018-19

August 27, 2018

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University men’s golf coach Luke Bennett has announced that Arlington High School golf standout Cody Oakes will join the program beginning in the 2018-19 season.

"I am thrilled to have Cody coming aboard. His game has grown rapidly over the past couple years, and I'm excited to see it keep growing,” said Bennett. “He has tremendous passion and work ethic for the game and I am sure he is going to make an impact on our team for years to come."

Oakes was a three-time state tournament participant at the 3A level, placing 22nd as a junior and 40th as a senior.

During his senior year he was the medalist at the Tom Dolan Memorial Invitational held at the Everett Golf & Country Club and recorded a top 10 finish at the 37th Bill Egbers Memorial Golf Tournament.

Oakes was named First Team 3A North All-Wesco and earned second-team all-league selection as a sophomore and junior.

The Vikings will open the 2018-19 season Sept. 21-22 at the Saint Martin's Invitational at The Home Course in DuPont, Washington. The complete fall and spring schedule, as well as historical information on the program, can be viewed at WWUVikings.com/MGolf.
