4 Bellingham Bells Named to WCL All-Star Game

The team with the best record in the West Coast League is sending 4 players to the All-Star Game. Four Bellingham Bells (19-10) are on the roster for the clash between the North and South divisions of the WCL July 17th in Port Angeles at Civic Field.

Bells Pitchers Justin Armbruester and Taylor Davis join position players Matt James (catcher) and Ernie Yake (shortstop)on the North roster, The teams were announced Tuesday by WCL Commisioner Rob Neyer. 

Armbruester leads the league in strikeouts with 44. He is 1-and-1 with a 1.39 ERA and 1 save. Davis is tied for the lead in WCL saves with 6. He is 2-0 with a microscopic .061 ERA.  

James leads the Bells in batting average (.310) and RBI's (16). He is tied with two others for the team lead in home runs with 3. Yake, one of the top defensive infielders in the league, is hitting .286 with 7 RBI's, 4 doubles and 2 triples.

Via press release, Bells general manager Stephanie Morrell said the club is thrilled to have four players selected to the All-Star team.  "They are all very deserving of this honor and we know they will represent our team and our city very well."

The North all-stars will be coached by Lefties skipper Darren Westergard and his staff, while the South will be coached by the defending champion coaching staff of the Corvallis Knights, led by five-time WCL Coach of the Year Brooke Knight. Tuesday's game gets underway at 6:35pm. on Monday the 16th the WCL will celebrate the long ball with the annual Home Run Derby which also begins at 6:35pm.
