May 14, 2018

Fast-pitch softball jumps in the district playoff spotlight this week as 6 Whatcom County teams begin postseason play.

Nooksack Valley takes on Cedar Park Christian. Mount Baker gets the winner of the Meridian Sultan play-in game. The top seeds, Lynden Christian and Sedro-Woolley will follow, playing the winners of those games.

Playoff games began Saturday in the 2A classification with loser-out contests. Anacortes, Lakewood, MountLake Terrace and Archbishop Murphy all advanced to the double elimination portion of the bracket with victories. Sammamish, Burlington, Liberty and Granite Falls all saw their seasons come to an end.

The next round begins Wednesday, also at Janicki Fields. Top seeded Sehome plays Archbishop Murphy. Lynden, the two-seed, squares off with Lakewood. The other games have Anacortes playing Cedarcrest and Sedro-Woolley matching up with Mountlake Terrace.
