Blazers drop series opener at Lake Tahoe

The Lake Tahoe Icemen rode Paul Frye's hat trick to a 5-1 home playoff victory over the Bellingham Blazers Friday. The win gives Tahoe a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three Western States Hockey League Northwest Division semifinal.
Bellingham was outshot 49-to-25 at the South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena. Ilya Abubakirov scored the lone goal for the Blazers in the first period.
Game 2 is Saturday at 7:00pm and game 3 is scheduled for a 2:30pm puck drop, if necessary.
