No. 2 Vikings Host Western Oregon and Concordia this Week

October 30, 2018

The No. 2 nationally-ranked WWU volleyball team takes its 21-match winning streak into the penultimate week of the 2018 regular season, hosting Western Oregon (Thursday) and Concordia (Saturday) in Carver Gym. Both matches hold first serve at 7 pm on WECU Court.

WWU is 21-3 overall and in first place in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference with a perfect 16-0 record. After dropping the first three matches of the 2018 season to ranked opponents, the Vikings have rattled off 21 consecutive victories. They have won 63 of 73 sets during the win streak and won 34 consecutive GNAC matches (dating back to last season) and 26 consecutive inside Carver Gym.

WWU has already secured at least a share of the GNAC title, and with one more victory will clinch the outright title. This marks the 9th GNAC title for the Vikings and second straight after winning the 2017 league championship with a 19-1 record in 2017.

The Vikings Swept Western Oregon (25-12, 25-15, 25-17) on Oct. 6 in Monmouth. WWU leads the all-time series vs. the Wolves 38-14, including a current 11-match winning streak and won 18 of the last 19.

Western also swept Concordia (25-8, 25-10, 25-14) on Oct. 4 in Portland. WWU is a perfect 11-0 all-time vs. the Cavaliers with a 7-0 record since Concordia joined the GNAC (all sweeps).
