All NWC: Gimmaka top player, Bomber top coach

Nooksack Valley senior Katrina Gimmaka has been named the Northwest Conference Most Outstanding Player while Lynden Christian coach Brady Bomber is the Coach of the Year. The All Northwest Conference Girls Basketball Teams were announced Monday.

Gimmaka was the top scorer on a Pioneer squad that made it to the quarterfinals at 1A State and finished 20-9 on the year. Bomber guided the Lyncs to a 28-0 record and the 1A State title with a 50-48 win over Cashmere on Saturday. 

 

 

 

 

Three members of the Lynden Christian state championship team were named first team in seniors Avery Dykstra, Sam VanLoo and junior Isabela Hernandez. Two other Whatcom County players made the first team in senior Elise Fitzgerald of Meridian and Squalicum senior Chalae Wolters. Allison Ray of Burlington-Edison and Gabby Ronngren of Anacortes round out the top squad.

Gimmaka and all of the Whatcom County seniors on the All Conference Teams will play in the 32nd Annual Basketball Classic on Friday, March 9th at Jake Maberry Gymnasium.
