Ferndale falls to Mt. Vernon in non-conference finale

Despite a strong performance on the mound from pitcher Geirean Hatchett, The Ferndale offense came up short in a 4-0 non-conference loss to Mount Vernon Tuesday. The home loss drops the Golden Eagles to 2-and-4 overall.
Mount Vernon scored 4 runs on just 5 hits to improve to 3-and-2 on the year. Centerfielder Ian Fitzgerald led the way going 2-for-3 with an RBI, a run scored, a walk and 2 stolen bases.
Despite getting the loss, Hatchett was the bright spot for the Golden Eagles. The sophomore struck out 8 batters in 51/3 innings worth of work.
Ferndale will play at Nooksack Valley Friday at 4:30pm in the Northwest Conference opener for both squads.
