Fife Pitches Past Sehome to Title Game

May 25, 2019

Making their first trip to the semifinals since 2011, the Sehome baseball squad ran into a buzzsaw on the mound Friday. Fife junior Judah Graham put on a show on the mound throwing a no-hitter to down the Mariners 2-0 at Yakima County Stadium.

It took 96 pitches for Graham to pick up the win. He registered 6 strikeouts and walked just two batters to  send the Trojans (22-3) on to the 2A state championship game Saturday versus Selah. The Mariners will play Archbishop Murphy in the 3rd/4th place game on Saturday.

Sehome lefty Jacob Kaepernick held up his end of the pitchers duel. The sophomore only gave up just 1 earned run on 7 hits while collecting 3 strikeouts and walking 1 batter.

The Mariners (18-10) hurt their cause with costly errors leading to the lone runs in the 4th and 6th innings. Junior Brian Ours capitalized in both situations with RBI singles scoring Ryan Moreno to account for all of Fife's runs.

The Trojans will take on Selah (23-2) at 7:00pm for the 2A crown. The Vikings  advanced with a 3-0 win over Archbishop Murphy (20-6). That sets up a rematch between the Mariners and Wildcats for 3rd place on Saturday

Sehome will look to avenge a 6-3 loss to Archbishop Murphy in the district tournament play on May 7th. Saturday's first pitch is scheduled for 1:00pm.
