Girls Soccer: 7 Local Players Named All-State

Seven Whatcom County prep soccer players have been honored by the
Washington State Soccer Coaches Association. The WSSCA announced it's 2018 all-state girls teams Wednesday.
Squalicum's Maria Rodriguez was the lone 1st team representative locally. The senior was named to the 3A first team at defender.
After finishing second in state, Sehome led the way locally with four players on the 2A squads. Forward Sophia Pagnotta (Sr.) and midfielders Anna Miller (Sr.) and Zola Carbone (Jr.) were named to the 2nd team. Junior defender Janie Wilson was named Honorable Mention.
In the single-A classification Lynden Christian senior midfielder Libby Hielkema earned 2nd team honors. Meridian senior defender Mali Mack was named honorable mention.
Other Northwest Conference honorees include junior forward Moria MacKay and senior defender Lexy Watson of Burlington. The 2A Coach of the Year was
Ryan Kuttel of Burlington.
