Lynden's Christian Zamora Commits to WWU

May 2, 2019

Fans of Lynden High School basketball star Christian Zamora won't have far to travel to watch him play at the next level. The career scoring leader for the Lions is staying home in Whatcom County after announcing his commitment to play at Western Washington University.

Zamora delivered the news via Twitter Wednesday night. The post featured a photo of Zamora over the WWU logo entitled "Next Chapter...". included in the tweet was the following sentence: "Thank you coach Dominguez and staff for believing in me, I can't wait to become a Western Washington Viking.

Zamora confirmed to The Doug Lange Network that he has verbally committed to the Vikings and will be signing his letter of intent Friday at Lynden High School.

The 6-foot-4-inch swingman helped Lynden to their second straight state championship with a 60-51 victory over Selah in March. Zamora averaged 18 points per game during his senior season and leaves as the LHS all-time leading scorer and top 3-point shooter. He was named All NWC first team and 2A All Tournament 2nd Team and Associated Press honorable mention for the state of Washington.

In committing to Western and playing in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, Zamora will have an opportunity to square off against a familiar face. His Lynden teammate Clayton Whitman has signed to play for one of the top rivals of the Vikings in Seattle Pacific University.
