Prep Baseball: Ferndale Shuts Out Lakewood

Brett Westford turned in a 1-hit shutout performance on the mound to lead the Golden Eagles past Lakewood 13-0 in a non-conference home victory on Saturday. Westford struck out 6 batters, giving up just 1 hit and 1 walk in 5 innings of work.
Kobe Sandstorm led the 9-hit Ferndale offense. The sophomore went 2-of-3 with a double, a walk, 4 RBI's and 2 runs scored. Carson Peters added a 2-for-2 performance with a walk, an RBI and 2 runs scored.
Ferndale (6-3/2-1 NWC) hosts hosts Sehome on Monday.
Port Angeles 10 Lynden 4
Aided by a two-run error, the Roughriders scored four runs in the first inning and never looked back in a 10-4 victory over the Lions in Lynden. Port Angeles banged out 10 hits in the non-conference win.
Gavin Guerrero and Joel Wood registered 4 hits and 6 RBI's for the Roughriders, while Brody Merritt hit a home run. Three P.A. pitchers combined to hold the Lions to just 7 hits.
Lynden's Carter Parter had two doubles and 2 RBI's in the loss. Brendan Kleindel tallied 2 hits and 2 runs scored and Jack Doolittle went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Lynden (5-3/2-1 NWC) hosts Mt. Baker on Monday.
